Backup Solution for Laptops/Remote Sites

I'm looking for some possible solutions for backing up a job folder from users who VPN into the office - either over hardware or software based based VPN. The problem is that the connection speed can be on the slow side for transferring files, and a lot of users end up just skipping out on transferring it to the office and in the worst case scenario, a hard drive that isn't being backed up will fail.

-Needs to be retard proof.
-Multiple users will need to be able to add/remove files with ease.
-In an ideal world it would sync with a folder on a file server in house (probably reaching here.)

Should I look for something cloud based? (http://www.druva.com/insync/remote-backup/) Thoughts?

DFS to another site, replication can be throttled for bandwidth at peak times and you can then backup the replicated folder in house?

I was thinking of DFS, however this would require setting up a file server at each site. It seems like something like druva would be cheaper.
