Backup software.

I need to backup some windows 7/8 PCs to a NAS and I wondered what solutions people here were going with.

Ideally I'd like it totally automated (I'll be putting it on my wife's PC). I'd like it to do a full image of the PC for total disaster recovery, and to backup certain folders on a regular (hourly or more) basis. I'd need those folders to be easily browsable (not an image) and there to be several weeks worth of them.

It doesn't need to be free but I don't want to pay hundreds of groats for it either.

It'll be doing this over wifi as well so it needs to be doing incremental backups (I can hitch up a cable to do the initial images).

Any suggestions?

If u own one western digital disk u get on their page free: Acronis True Image WD Edition

I've got 8.

Acronis only does images though doesn't it? I wanted an open file structure for the regular folder backups.

For folders i use: Cobian backup 11.I like it cause i can set to have all folders. Incremental backups messes my organized files. U can do incremental with cobian 2, but i dont do it.

Ideally I'd just like to be running one backup software that does both image and folders if I can.

forgot to answer. Acronis does have folder backups.
I'll check out Acronis (I think that I have an old licence anyway so I could swing an upgrade if the WD version is gimped) but I have a feeling that even their folder backups are saved as one proprietary file (.tib?) rather than an open browsable folder.

I use the built in backup utility to generate a system image and save it to the NAS.

My data HD gets robocopy'd to a network share.

Both tasks are kicked off by a Scheduled Task.

You could use software like Dropbox or Mega and just keep all your valuable files synced there.

I personally have a list of all my important programs and if I need to re-install windows I can just look at the list and re-install everything. it only takes an hour.
