Due to a recent virus scare, I have decided to faithfully make backups of my important stuff on a regular basis. Any backup software you guys can recommend...preferably
something I can schedule at a specific time each week/month without having
to remember? :)
Thx
Gary

My favorte is Drive Image Pro 4.0. It copys the entire HD so if ya have any probs you can just reformat then copy the entire HD back to it original state. I use a CD-RW to make a image of my hd's once a week.

How many Cds do you use to copy your entire drive? How long does it take?

It depends on how you have your system set up. I have mine set up into 2 hd's. 1 for the windows directory and 1 for the programs. The windows drive can fit on one cd no problem but the programs drive I have to compress to get it to fit on one cd. There are different levels of compression to choose from.

I'll second the recommendation for DriveImage. To answer your question, it can optionally compress your drive's contents by approximately 40% using the high compression setting. You can also set it up to span the image across multiple files (i.e. 650 or 700MB) for burning to CD...version 4 will even allow you to burn directly to CD from DOS. Nice!

Best regards,
Floyd

how do you get stuff back on once youve formatted? do you have to reinstall windows first or do you just slap the drive back into its original state?

Do any of you know if Drive Image likes (or dislikes) RAID configurations through a FastTrak66? I can't seem to get mine to work...
