Backup software for the tech on the go

I'm looking for free software that will attempt to automatically backup common user files (such as My Documents, Favorites, Firefox bookmarks etc.) to either CDs/DVDs, a flash drive or possibly a network share.

This would be useful when someone hands me a computer to wipe and I want to save time backing up the data.
