We have 2000 server with veritas backup 8.6 i believe. Daily backups were running fine except they started exceeding the amount a single tape would store. So, I had users clean out their mailboxes/deleted items/etc. and cleaned out shared files that weren't needed anymore (all on the server, which also runs exchange).
Now backups get about a gig through and I get this:
Storage device "QUANTUM 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Backup completed on 5/22/2003 at 1:41:52 AM.
about 10 minutes into the 'Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes' portion of the backup. It's happened 2 days in a row now (never had this problem prior).
Anyone have any ideas?
