OK folks, someone's gotta be able to help with this one...
Just bought a Plextor 24/10/40A because of all the problems my old HP 8100i was having with XP and with 800MB CD Rom's. the problem is that I'm continuing to generate errors when attempting to back up my 30Gig HD with BackupExec 4.5.
The backup procedes normally until at some random time an error window pops up saying that there was an error detected on the media (a damaged portion, etc). The backup operation then terminates and I'm left with a bunch of useless coasters.
I got these errors with the HP dirve too, but I assumed that it was because the drive had trouble reading the 700MB CD's I was using.
I figure its not a Buffer underrun (given Plextor's burnproof technology) and I've looked for patches for B.U.E. but there is nothing helpful out there.
Do I give up on Backup Exec? I'm drowning in useless plastic discs. Please help.
PS...nothing that I could find in the archives about this either.
