backup data outside of windows

Hey Al,

My copy of windows XP wont boot on a laptop. How can I Backup my hard drive on the laptop without having to boot into Windows? Is there a program I can use to dump to a portable drive?

Buy a laptop to desktop converter and put your laptop hard drive in a desktop. Something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16812203012 Radioshack should carry them.
Edit: Or use bart pe or some other windows live cd to boot from the cd and extract your data to an external hd
