Backup and restore iPhone question

Hello friends,

I hope everyone is doing well. I have an iPhone 4S, I am in the USA.

I need to back it up and loan it to a relative for a few months, and loan it to a relative for a few months.

Can I just use Itunes and backup the phone, to save my photos, messages and contacts?

After backing it up, can I format it to erase all the data?

When I get it back from my relative, can I restore the phone from the backup?

This is a genuine personal matter, nothing else.

Yes, you can backup the phone through iTunes and restore it later. Photos and all your data will be saved.
