Backpacks - size/brand?

I'm in the market for a backpack to cart around my stuff for about a week-long trip. From what I understand 4000 cubic inches should be enough for this length, but then there's the issue of brand...a friend of mine recommended Gregory packs...

Any opinions from the AT crowd?

upper range north face's are comfortable. hauled my weekly food supply (15-20lbs) from home back in college with no problems.

i had the last generation of this

I'm not sure about size and name brands, I'll just say that I purchased a Nike backback back in 2002 and it still going strong with no tears or anything after all these years and visiting like 4 different countries. I've carried upwards of 50-60lbs in it and it's been through more washes than I can count but still looks damn good. It's not very big on space and has only two seperate enclosures but I've been very very happy with the quality.
