Ok i've got a problem and I'm hoping you all can help.

I'm trying to install the Backoffice multiserver wizard so I can install ISAServer.

I have 2 W2k domain controllers and one NT4 BDC in mixed mode. I have completed the Multiserver planning wizard and it has created the proper INI file. However, when I go to run the msoschma.exe program to write this to active directory, it gives and error saying it was unsuccessful please read troubleshooting in the windows help file. I did and it doesn't say dick on how to fix this. Searching for "multiserver" on the MS knowledge base reveals no hits. WTF?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

It almost sounds like you are trying to update the Schema. I haven't worked with Backoffice 2000 yet, but you might want to add your account to the Schema Administrators group. Just being a member of the Domain Admins and the Enterprise Admins, does not give you the appropriate rights to modify the schema.

Try that, and let me know if that helps you.

live4spd,

I've installed ISA a few times be4... I don't use the backoffice multiserver wizard stuffs.

What I did is:

1. Update the active directory with the ISA install disk
2. Determine whether you want the enterprise / stand - alone version of ISA
3. You need to be in Schema Admin, Enterprise Admin, LOCAL ADMIN, and maybe domain admin....
4. After ISA is installed, follow the simple wizard and it will ask you a lot of questions. Follow it through and you should be fine

Ok the user name did not belong to the Schema Admin or Enterprise Admin group so I added them in there.

The user name has the follow permissions,
Enterprise Admins
Domain Admins
Domain Users
Schema Admins

However it still doesn't work. :-(

Any ideas?

I have tried just bypassing all this and installing ISA but it asks me for a 10 character key, and all I have is a 25 character key? Strange. I was able to install SQL buy just running the setup off Disk 2 of BO.
