backlight bleeding

hi, i have recently received a 22" viewsonic and have noticed that, when completely black, there is about 1cm of bleeding on the top and bottom; would that be considered defective? should i get a replacement, or is this normal for LCDs 20" and over?

thanks in advance 🙂

That would quality as backlight bleeding, if I'm no mistaken. My 2005FPW has uneven backlight, however, it can only be seen on a completely black screen.

If Viewsonic will replace it, its your call. How noticeable is it during your daily use? It may not be worth the effort to return it if you cannot see it.

i can easily get it replaced but am just wondering how common it is and what the likelihood is of getting another one with the same problem (it would cost me nothing other than time).
it is most noticeable on a black background and slightly noticeable on a dark background.

any more ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
thanks again for the reply 🙂
