Backlight Bleeding

I'm curious as to how common backlight bleeding is on lcd peripherals. I just got my Samsung 930B and i think its really good, though there is some backlight bleeding... i think. Since I've never really taken a good look at an lcd other than my own, I'd like to know if LCDs actually have zero backlight bleeding.

I've seen pics of the dells with backlight bleeding and they seem rather... large covering big parts of the screen. Mine has a glow that sort of lightens up a quarter or half inch border on each side. I have no idea if this is normal or not, though my guess would be that it is backlight bleeding.

When a lcd doesn't have backlight bleeding does that mean that all you see is the color and nothing else when on black? i understand itll look a bit grey on most lcds, but you'd see none of the backlight AT ALL?

Can you guys confirm my guess? I'm curious as to how common backlight bleeding is on other brands other than Dell, since I've never heard any real complaints aside from theirs. Do you guys think its worth going back to the store and exchanging?

i dimagine they all have some level of bleed through, after all they do need to let light through so you can see the image. my iiyama prolite seems to have very little bleed through.

my friends dell laptop is horrid....it bleeds so much blacks look like greys.

my dad hs jus got a sony laptop with the X-Black screen. looking dead on at this screen there is zero backlight bleeding. but as soon as look at it at an angle pitch black turns to grey and you can see the pools of light from the back light pretty well. wether this is just the X black filter at work or jus simply a poor quality screen i dont no, but for the user at least when your sat infront of it....blacks and pretty much jet black and it looks awesome.

think at this point of LCD developement, its normal to see some backlight bleeding, like you said just round the edges and only noticable on dark backgrounds.

in my experience alot of DELLS LCDS have the worst case of the problem.

Yeah it bothers me for some reason because... lack of perfection bothers me. It's rather slight bleeding, but I want to know if its common on Samsungs or on LCD's in general. So a zero backlight bleeding lcd would actually display the pure color without any light showing (it'll be gray in my case). That sounds really nice lol. I'm not sure if it's worth going back to Best Buy however.

Haha, no. I believe VirtualLarry is referring to the fine motion picture Predator (starring two governors!), the part when Arnie sees the highlighter yellow "blood" of the predator after it got hit by some shrapnel or something.

However, I did feel like killing my Dell monitor, which had nearly a quarter of the screen bleeding like crazy.

Well i think LCD is still developing stage of new tech display. No matter how good people are satisfied or says its good as CRT display, CRT is in mpo is still best display in computer and TV. If you are looking for best quality then you just have to go with the CRT. also.... your space.....
