Backlight bleeding opinions

I've been at the computer a lot, so I am really looking forward to a nice new LCD to replace my 6 year old 19" CRT. However I've heard problems especially with the monitor I want the most (Dell 2005FPW) about backlight bleeding when the screen is dark.

How bad would you say backlight bleeding really is in both the 2005FPW and other LCD models? I'll be seeing this "bleeding" very often, so I'm finding it hard to take that with such a huge upgrade there will be a, acording to some of what I've read, serious drawback. However I've also heard that Dell is very good with returns and you can return your screen if it has dead pixels or bad backlight bleeding at no cost to you... is this true?

get the 2005FPW, it's a very good monitor and you'll be able to return it dell easily if there's any image defect. Just keep returning it until you find a good one.

ok I think I'm just going to go for it then. any way to make sure that my radeon 9700 will support the 1600x1050?

And what's the best way to look out for sales/rebates on this thing? I've heard of the price dropping to $350 at times because dell just loves giving out rebates

I have the 2005FPW. It does have backlight bleeding. I was planning on getting it replaced by Dell, but I got lazy. I have gotten used to it now. The only time you can notice it is on really dark games like Doom3 or FEAR. Even then it isn't so bad once you get used to it. Definetly not like my 21" Sony CRT I gave up, but I like the LCD much more for everyday Windows use.
