Backing up your BIOS

Is there anyway I can backup my BIOS? I know you can do it when your updating the BIOS, but I just want to backup my current BIOS, not update it. Is there anyway to do it?

The update utilities should do it, or if not you could reflash your current BIOS while making the backup so as not to change anything. But then why backup if you have the current BIOS as a .bin?

Well, the reason I want to know why is because I have a Compaq and I got an updated BIOS for my motherboard, which wasn't made by compaq. The computer worked fine but I'm having some problems. I was stupid so I didn't backup my old bios. I know someone who has my original BIOS and is willing to give it to me, but he doesn't know how he can copy his bios so he can email it to me.
