Anyone have any good solutions, or possibly shareware/freeware utils that will help me out here?
My C: drive is failling. I can get it to boot about 50% of the time, and usually when it boots, it's good to go for a few hours.
I have an identical drive I can install as drive D:. I have already managed to get all my "important files" and whatnot off the drive, but am having a hell of a time trying to preserve my existing windows installation.
Obviously this is an NTFS file system.
Any suggestions for easy ways to get *all* my data across? I tried the old standby xcopy trick, thinking I could do that and then simply run a repair-install of XP on that drive.. no dice, it refused to acknowledge that the \windows directory was a valid install.
Normally, I'd just say screw it and reinstall windows from scratch, but I'm just not in the mood, I'm probably only keeping this PC for another 3-4 months, and would rather continue on with the complete install as I have it now if possible.
Thanks!
