I need some way to back up my laptop and desktop. Here is my plan:
MacBook Pro: will have a 500GB Seagate Momentus XT and later a 5400 rpm 500GB HDD to do a 1:1 back-up on to every night kinda like a delayed RAID 1
Could I do a RAID 1 with no / very little performance decrease? Also why is the cost of a 250 GB almost the same as a 500GB Momentus Hybrid? I only need about 250 GB of storage on my MacBook Pro :\ I only use it to editing photos on the go and class... Or should I go with 2x 250 gb 7200 HDDs in a RAID 1? That would be about a $100 cheaper.
Desktop (Hackintosh): has a 500 GB HDD right now I'm thinking about dropping another 500 GB HDD in it and run it in a RAID 1
For both I plan on getting a 1 TB G-Drive to back up just my picture library on to.
Anyone see any flaws with this plan? Any places that things can be done better?
Also eventually I will need to get a copy of the 1 TB G-Drive off-site any recommendations on how to?
Thanks folks,
