backing up dvd drive firmware

anyone knows how i can back up a dvd drive's firmware? also anyone knows what a bad flash to the firmware will do to the drive and the rest of the system?

A bad flash wont do anything to the system, but will probably damage the drive.

Nothing bas has ever happend to me.

I know with some motherboard flashers, you can choose to back up the the bios' rom to a disk, but not too sure with dvds.
