Backing up Cisco RTR Configs

I was looking for suggesting on where to start with this idea.

I want to be able to run a script that will log in and copy my RTRs config.

Say for example using PUTTY as the application, where PUTTY has the option to "LOG ALL SESSION OUTPUT". The script would initiate PUTTY and be preconfigured with user/pass. Then PUTTY would pull the information down to a specific directory.

Goal:
Back up RTR Configs

Obstacles:
Unsure of where to begin
Larger number of RTRs so need a script that is "standard" needing only to change user/pass

Any suggestions for where to start studying/reading up on this?

Thanks in advance

Don't have ciscoworks, eh?

I'm sure there are cheap tools out there to do this. Just don't know what they are.

You would be correct. 20G for software is a bit beyond my company at this point. Although it would resolve the issue.

Hrmmmmm... I'm trying to remember what I used when I set up a Cisco lab. It was some terminal environment, and I was just able to set up word matching triggers, and enabled logging... worked for my purpose.

I'll post if I think of it.

That was my first guess, but I just downloaded it, and while I know it was one of the programs I used, it doesn't support that... so I must have used something else.

Heck, I can't even remember which platform I did it on... I just remember doing it. I was using win32, NetWare, and linux all at the same time back then. 😕

Thanks for the suggestions folks I really appreicate it. Never heard of CatTools but looks very interesting.

As for scripting ... I am not much of one ... only really been able to "hack" scripts

Thanks again for the comments

Any other suggestions out there?
