I just bought an XBOX and i have a concern. A friend's DVD drive went out so i opted for the Service plan from Bestbuy for $20. I figure if it goes bad in the next 2 years it would be worth it to have. Any way if something does happen i would like to save off my games. From what i understand there are many games that will not back up to a memory card. For example DDR. Is there a way to back up the harddrive with out disassembling it? Could i network it with my PC and pull the information off? Thanks for the help and sorry if this is a repost. I searched but couldnt find anything.

Yah, you'll have to mod the Xbox. I'm pretty sure BBY won't touch it once you've opened it.

Short of modding your xbox, there is no way to FTP into the xbox to grab files.

He didn't ask anything about FTP.

Okay, and what was your suggestion other than FTP'n into the box?

That's the only way to backup saved game files off the XBox's hard drive. You cannot network it with your home pc network or otherwise.

FTP is the only way to get to the files, hence my reply. The harddrive is formatted as FATX, and hence can't just be put into a computer and read.

1. Go back to best buy and return the warranty

2. Purchase a mod chip or do a soft mod (xbox-scene is your friend)

3. Be amazed at what you can do with a modded xbox and then smack yourself in the head for not doing it sooner.

:)

well i know this is old but you can back up your saved games, you have to use an exploit. if you know someone with a modded xbox, that is all it takes, PM if you want to know more
