I need to format and reinstall XP. I remeber hearing about the .pst files but I also had some strange issues with that the last time I did it.
For anyone that has actually done this, what is the best way to retain all of my current emails/folder/rules/account settings/etc.
I have Outlook configured to check several different eamil acct's form different isp's. I could enter it all again but I'd like to keep from doing that.
tia.

To retain the setting in OFFICE\Outlook copy the following:

In Windows Explorer goto:
TOOLS \ FOLDER OPTIONS \ VIEW \ Files and Folders \ Hidden files and folders
and tick 'Show hidden files and folders'

Then navigate to your USER DIRECTORY.
Under DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS
OPEN the APPLICATION DATA directory
COPY the MICROSOFT DIRECTORY to a SAFE LOCATION

Then navigate to the LOCAL SETTINGS directory.
OPEN the APPLICATION DATA and COPY the OUTLOOK & ADDRESS BOOK directories to a safe location.

After reinstalling WinXP and OFFICE replace the current files with the SAVED and you will be good to go.
