Backing for mouse surface?

I've got the C4 Classic Mouse Surface and it's currently sitting flat on my desk. I'll be getting a new desk in a few weeks and would prefer a mousing surface that could be easily moved.

Ideally, I'm looking for a thin, hard surface that would work well with the C4 material, but not scratch up the desk. Any ideas for something from Lowe's, Home Depot, local store, etc?

The best material that I could think of would be plexiglass. Anything better?
