hey guys, i downloaded an executable (not a virus or worm or anything, totally safe) a couple days ago and when i run it, there is an instrumental song playing in the background which sounds like a midi, but it's really catchy and i was wondering if there's some way to find out the song name or 'separate' it out from the exe file.

i'm not sure i've explained what i'm trying to do, but in case, this post isn't clear, please do ask me to clarify. i'm no c++ programming expert, so any help will be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Quick & Dirty : Use a program such as Audacity to capture your Sound Out, save to MP3. There might exist a utility to tranfer more-or-less cleanly back to Midi from there, I don't know.

yeah, it was, for some, uh, borrowed software lol.

i was hoping some software whizkid would know some way of extracting the "embedded" source audio file.

i think that's what it is, because i can run the file all day and it's like never-ending (in the sense, that you don't notice when it ends and restarts all over again, sort of like a perfect loop), something you don't normally see in a regular song.

thanks guys for all the help, but i had no luck "extracting" the media.

The music is usually composed by someone other than who made the small app that you ran. Perhaps if they were nice enough, they left some credits where you can see who made the song and look it up online. Or at the very least look up the group who made the app and see if you can find anything that way.
