I've tried CDRWIN, NERO, And CLONE CD none of them can make me a backup so that i can play with the compied version rather then the original. It works fine with the original when i pu the burned copy it says that i should please verify that the play CD is in the CD-ROM drive. I seems there is some protection on it. I just want to play with something other than the original CD. I'm prone to losing CD's. I don't have my Quake 3 anymore. Please help.

I, too, have lost a lot of CD's to scratches. The to get a replacement, you have to pay the company $10 for a replacement. That's really annoying. Anyways, I didn't have any trouble. I used EZ CD Creator (Adaptec) and made a cdf image, then created the CD from the image. It seemed to work fine.

This is what happens: When i put the copied play CD into the CD drive it says that please put "play disk" into CD drive. It keeps saying that no matter how many times i hit enter. This happened both times after burning it on the latest nero engine and the latest clone CD demo. Is the CD really protected or is there something wrong with somthing in the process.

I installed the 1.5 gig installation. I re-installed the program and it still does not work. I've burned the play disk 4 times. Not a single one of them worked. I dunno what's wrong. Are my settings wrong? Is there a protection on the CD?

Try installing the first or 2nd patch -- I had that problem with my originals...but it went away after I patched the game.

i have the patch too. it still does not work. So you guys are able to play diablo 2 with a burned copy. Why doesn't mine work? It's getting me kinda pissed off. I'm thinking of returning the game or exchanging it for a new one.

I still can't figure out what's wrong... I have a Plextor 8432A so i know it should burn correctly. I can install the game from the backed up play CD and will work perfectly although i still wont' be able to play it through that CD. What's wrong?

Yeah, I think the Diablo CD reads the CD ID. The part that says what type of CD it is. I've burned 6 copies already of the play CD and none of them worked. I know for sure it's not because of the burner or CDR program. I'm sure the Diablo programs looks at a part of the CD that cannot be burned.

I full installed and play from my backup copy. The play CD is what it looks at. I use no gamecopyworld hack.

CloneCD
Plex 12x4x32 WITH latest BIOS (think mine is 1.04)

But, I had to check/uncheck a couple things....I think they were something like :
Smart bad sector (meaning DON'T use it--I think this skips portions that it "expects" to be bad sectors if you use it?)
Repair subchannel?

can't remember for sure.
