It appears a siblings machine has been infected with a trojan known as 'Backdoor-BDD' and her fully updated version of McAfee can't seem to get rid of it. I don't have the time to sit here and go through all sorts of software, and i'm being begged not to format.

Anyone have any good tips or programs to get rid of this thing? It's annoying having to reset my startup page everytime I open IE!

Thanks.

1) Disable System Restore

2) Install that beta Microsoft Antispyware

3) Start the computer in Safe Mode

4) While in Safe Mode, run a McAfee scan using heuristics and scanning within compressed files

5) While in Safe Mode, do a full Microsoft Antispyware scan too

6) Get the computer updated at Windows Update and run a Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer scan (search Microsoft's site for "MBSA" to get this tool)

7) Look at your sister's behaviors and see if you can get her to stop doing whatever brought that junk in the door in the first place.
