It was routine to spot the place from problems when people called. The officer very firmly told me never to do it again and went on his way.

When I was little they didn't have callerID yet (still used rotary actually). Anyway, I dialed 911 a few times and hung up (don't know why, but I did). One time (the last time) they called back and got my Mom. :shocked:

I called 999 once for a laugh (hey, I was young), and put it down immediately. Picked it up cautiously a few seconds later to find that they were holding the line open, and I couldn't get rid of them, no matter how many times I put the phone down. Eventually, I muttered something about a wrong number, put it down and forgot about it.

My brothers did this once when we were small and they were fighting. One of them picked up the phone and diall 911 and screamed in it. Then hung up. Oh man, did we get the whooping of a lifetime.
