Back up data from GPT protected partition, help?

Hi all, I am having a bit of a problem. I was running xp 64bit for awhile with 2 hard drives, and decided to switch to the 32 bit sp2. Naturally, I put all my important files on my 250GB slave drive, unplugged it, and installed sp2. The slave drive does not have any OS installed on it, btw. After installing all of the windows updates and getting all the drivers squared away, I plug the 250gb drive back in, and I am unable to access the information on it.

Under disk management, the drive is there, but I am getting the GPT Protected Partition on the disk; however, when I go into the properties, volumes tab, it is labeled a MBR.

I have done some research and it seems everyone says I need to buy a new hard drive, put x64 on it, move data around, and somehow it will work.

What are my options? I have EVERYTHING on that 250gb disk, how can I access it with the least bit of hassle?

Haven't seen that one before, but it seems this MS article explains a bit:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/...e/storage/GPT_FAQ.mspx

This part seems to explain your troubles...

14. Can the 32-bit version of Windows XP read, write, and boot from GPT disks?
No. The 32-bit version will see only the Protective MBR. The EE partition will not be mounted or otherwise exposed to application software.

Seems like you'll need to run a XP64 to get that stuff off there again?

This full version of this will more than likely work for getting your stuff back btw:
http://www.runtime.org/gdb.htm

I've used it successfully for many situations where data is not accessible via Explorer, but the drive is visible in Disk Management.

PMed you.
