Do newer X2's overclock well, or are they worse than they used to be?
I'm looking at upgrading my 3200+ (currently running 240x10) to an X2 since they're cheap, and then overclock (mobo seems to manage 260 FSB without too much issue), so it'll be hitting 2600MHz max anyway (vcore up to maybe 1.55v max I think).

If I do upgrade, will there be any Windows issues (XP Pro/SP2) if I just drop in the new chip? I assume I will need some drivers, but apart from that will Windows play nice?

You shouldn't have any problems since the MB isn't changing. Install the AMD X2 driver and optimizer and your'e good to go.

What BIOS are you running on your MSI K8N SLI Platinum? There's a chance you might need to update that to make sure it can handle the X2. Check the manufacturer site.
