Here's a bullet point list of what I'm talking about. Easier than paragraphs of text:

  • Company sending me to CA for the week of 5/1
  • Grandmother in the hospital. Trip to CA lets me see her.
  • Grandmother dies Sunday night.
  • Freaking out trying to find a way to get to CA sooner
  • Finally come up with a plan to drive the family out tomorrow, stay next week and work as planned, drive back Friday. This way I get a hotel and everything.
  • Now just waiting for tax return to be able to leave.
  • Director calls me this morning: Trip's cancelled.

So now here's my conundrum: Do I make a whirlwind trip to CA so I can be back here in CO on Monday or Tuesday? Should I use my vacation time and stay as long as planned originally and just crash on the in-law's living room floor (with kids and all)?

I'm too messed up in the head right now to think straight. I really need to see my mom because she's completely lost it now that her "mommy" is gone. They've lived in the same apartment complex for 10 years now and my grandmother was the only light in my mom's daily life since both me and my brother are out of state.

EDIT: Well, I guess FuseTalk's bullet points suck. Typical.

Pack your stuff, take your vacation, and go see your family. Stay for a little while. Probably the best thing you could do right now.

Sorry to hear about your grandma.
