Do you realize how often this happens in testing? They keep full emergency kits, fire extinguishers, etc, in test mules. Engineers die more often than you think in test cars. The guys here were lucky to get out.

When you tear apart wiring and splice so much stuff in, it would make Joseph Lucas himself flinch....you're going to have a fire.
The norm in pre-production engineering.

If only Ford was more like GM and their cars killed people AFTER pre production training. =)

Yep. It doesn't happen so often that it could be called common, but it's also not something that's a big deal. The early models are often hacked-together to test certain things.

I have been in R&D most of my carrier and this happens way more than you think..... it is called R&D.... new stuff and we want to bring it to you in good working order.

I don't work for Ford but another company non auto but we blow stuff up all the time it's part of R&D.

Surprised these drivers are moving around with the windows down full-time in case something happens and the doors won't open. Window punch likely on hand.

The ingredients for thermite are aluminum powder and iron oxide. I'd be curious to know if that same reaction made this fire burn so hot so fast.
