I have been in R&D most of my carrier and this happens way more than you think..... it is called R&D.... new stuff and we want to bring it to you in good working order.
I don't work for Ford but another company non auto but we blow stuff up all the time it's part of R&D.
Rather see it happen in pre-production than out on the streets. Tesla I'm looking at you.....
