On Thursday my friend and I went and tried to use the coupons.
I tried to buy the 22" widescreen Westinghouse monitor. I knew it was unlikely they would take it but I figured it was worth a shot. It didn't work and I was 100% understanding of this, I was taking a shot, anyway.
THEN, my friend tried to buy a friggin' USB wireless network adapter and they told him it wasn't a "computer accessory". I argued and spoke to a manager and started getting loud when my friend asked me to stop. A USB network adapter is not a computer accessory? WTF do you use a network adapter for then? A toaster?
So now I'm on a mission to find the most expensive item they will let me use it on and buy it just to hurt 'em. I'm sure I could eBay whatever it is for profit. Effing Best Buy.
BestBuy ppl aren't the smartest you know...I got with talk with a dude who "specializes" in video cards and argued that a 6800 Ultra 512 mb is better than a 7800GT. I was like wtf![]()

w00t! Bring down bestbuy by buying stuff from them for really cheap!!! You are the quintessential iconoclast that surmises all of us will follow in your footsteps to subvert BB's funds by purchasing from them. Sounds like an astute stratagem to me![]()

I can second that. I was in line to return an ati tv wonder (didn't work with direct tv). The person in front of me was returning a bfg 7900gt. When the clerk opened it, I immediately noticed it had vga and dvi ports, not dual dvi. The clerk called a geek squad person to get the same card and compare the 2 visually and they concluded it was a bfg 7900gtAnyway, I'm sure they were going to mail him a check for the return. Surely they would catch him by the time they mail it.

This is why if you ever buy any expensive video cards (or anything else that ppl can do fraud like that on) from BB, pay for it and open it in front of the cashier immediatly after paying for it and make SURE its the correct video card. Otherwise its a little tough to convince them that you bought the $300 7900gt shrinkwrapped box and found a crappy 6600gt inside, and get them to allow you to return it.

I haven't either had it personally happen to me. But I've read about ppl buying them at BB (including some AT ppl). And its obvious the reason why it happens. People return with wrong card in it, and it gets shrinked and put back on shelves.
I've also seen one or two posts from people who ADMIT to returning thier old card in the new box.
Let me put it this way, anything over $100 that might have that chance of being the wrong thing, I'd open it and check in front of cashier right after I paid for it.
Another example I've heard of, someone bought an electronic device (I think it may have been an ipod or similar) and opened it and found a bar of soap in place of the item. In that case BB obviously didn't even check inside the box.
Considering BB is the kinda place that has tried to arrest ppl for paying with $2 bills, I'd just be careful buying anything expensive. It wouldn't stop me from buying anything from them that was a good deal, but it does mean I'll take precations on expensive items.
