On Thursday my friend and I went and tried to use the coupons.

I tried to buy the 22" widescreen Westinghouse monitor. I knew it was unlikely they would take it but I figured it was worth a shot. It didn't work and I was 100% understanding of this, I was taking a shot, anyway.

THEN, my friend tried to buy a friggin' USB wireless network adapter and they told him it wasn't a "computer accessory". I argued and spoke to a manager and started getting loud when my friend asked me to stop. A USB network adapter is not a computer accessory? WTF do you use a network adapter for then? A toaster?

So now I'm on a mission to find the most expensive item they will let me use it on and buy it just to hurt 'em. I'm sure I could eBay whatever it is for profit. Effing Best Buy.

BestBuy ppl aren't the smartest you know...I got with talk with a dude who "specializes" in video cards and argued that a 6800 Ultra 512 mb is better than a 7800GT. I was like wtf

I can second that. I was in line to return an ati tv wonder (didn't work with direct tv). The person in front of me was returning a bfg 7900gt. When the clerk opened it, I immediately noticed it had vga and dvi ports, not dual dvi. The clerk called a geek squad person to get the same card and compare the 2 visually and they concluded it was a bfg 7900gt:confused: Anyway, I'm sure they were going to mail him a check for the return. Surely they would catch him by the time they mail it.

LOL, my friend went to best buy again and tried looking for more coupons. One of the workers there was like "HEY! What are you doing" and hes like im looking for a coupon. The guy was like theres a whole box of them take ONE ok? haha does kinda seem retarded to look through an entire box but hey 30% off? I'm up for it. Found a few more but still hitting brick walls on some electronics. Damn I want the 7900 GT....oh well at least got a Hard Drive.

Walked into my local BB, asked the CSR's if they had any B2S coupons left. They said no, so I walked back to the monitor section and asked them. They had a stack of about 25, and he just handed me one and walked off. Seeing it was only 15%, I grabbed the stack, flipped them over, and about half were 30s. The WS was no longer on sale, so I picked up the 19" regular for $159. Went to pay, and the girl scanned the coupon & it worked, but didn't take any money off. She called over her manager, who told her to do a CPO and I walked out with it for $122 all together. I didn't even hassle the guy at the door, who even commented "that's a good price!" :)

What's your problem? Quote for me one word in my post that shows that I assume people are going to follow my lead. Don't put words in my post, let alone the ones you find in the thesaurus mommy and daddy bought you for your birthday.

I'm well aware that my single under-invoice purchase won't kill Best Buy, but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy profiting from their stupidity. After all, they were the ones who declared war on the smart customers: http://www.bc.edu/clubs/gasa/week_8_to_13.htm

I'm hardly the first to bring up this sentiment, anyway.

Wow you are psychic. I did use thesaurus.com. I was also banned before. Jesus, you couldn't be more right. I really am impressed. If you look at my heatware, you will see that was my account where I was previously banned. Seriously, I am impressed and scared that you may have hacked into my computer and you can watch what I am doing.

Edit: Anyway, your previous post was complete bs. You are still going to try to get the best price you possibly can, regardless if BestBuy pissed you off.

You need to know what sarcasm is when you see it. It is obvious that people will use a 30% coupon on the largest priced item they can find. Your bragging about bringing down BestBuy's profits through purchasing from them lead to the sarcastic post.

I for one don't feel that it's even proper geek eubonics. Clearly it violates the rules of intarweb spelling as it is missing the following:
0's instead of O's, CaPitAliZeD leTTeRs at RanD0m, and of course, $y|\/||30L letters.
Seriously, what happened to the days when 1337 $P3@k ruled the world?

Nope. What you watched was almost certainly the only check they do. They will shrinkwrap it and put back on the shelf like that, and mail the check to the guy. 99% chance that the card you saw was what the guy's old card was.

I suppose you could have "tattled" on the guy, but it would have been a risk. The guy might have gotten violent on you for spoiling his con game.

This is why if you ever buy any expensive video cards (or anything else that ppl can do fraud like that on) from BB, pay for it and open it in front of the cashier immediatly after paying for it and make SURE its the correct video card. Otherwise its a little tough to convince them that you bought the $300 7900gt shrinkwrapped box and found a crappy 6600gt inside, and get them to allow you to return it.

I've never received a wrong card inside a shrinkwrapped box, anyone else ever receive the wrong card??

The yellow trick didn't work, but the lack of anything near the copyright did :)

I didn't notice the order had to 100+ though :(

I haven't either had it personally happen to me. But I've read about ppl buying them at BB (including some AT ppl). And its obvious the reason why it happens. People return with wrong card in it, and it gets shrinked and put back on shelves.

I've also seen one or two posts from people who ADMIT to returning thier old card in the new box.

Let me put it this way, anything over $100 that might have that chance of being the wrong thing, I'd open it and check in front of cashier right after I paid for it.

Another example I've heard of, someone bought an electronic device (I think it may have been an ipod or similar) and opened it and found a bar of soap in place of the item. In that case BB obviously didn't even check inside the box.

Considering BB is the kinda place that has tried to arrest ppl for paying with $2 bills, I'd just be careful buying anything expensive. It wouldn't stop me from buying anything from them that was a good deal, but it does mean I'll take precations on expensive items.

Those AT people who have admitted jacking cards from retailers would never have gotten away with it if they went to Fry's. One time, I returned an xbox game that I decided I didn't want. The Fry's employee removed the factory seal and popped open the case and began to inspect it. It's a bit paranoid, but Fry's is smart for doing it because I will be able to buy an iPod without worrying about buying a bar of soap in an ipod box.

Socal residents, burbank bestbuy has 30% off coupons in the dvd player aisle. They are in the very back of the rack, and there should be many left since I only took 10.

I didn't read this thread carefully, I thought this was going to be good for anything in the store. Haha, went there found my 30% off, and went and looked at the new lcd/plasmas. Oh well, prices will come down eventually.
