This guy offered to trade my Chaos Theory for one of a selection of games. I chose Doom3 because I haven't played it in a while and I felt like playing it again.

I still think this game is awsome. The amount of immersion makes the game. Clearly at least in the beginning, the AI is pretty crappy. Still running at you or running to a certain place to hide instead of hiding behind something that was already near them. Then there is the waiting around that they do until you show up. Dispite all those things that I would find annoying in other games. I don't know, I'm not really focused on that. And, it adds to the menacing feel that they give. Something big running at you is scary. The graphics kick ass and I get this whole feeling that I am in Mars. Now I find the scientist and the radio chatter adds to the confusion. This game is very cinematic in that way where the visuals and the sounds make the game happen. The enemies are just there to have fun killing. You get the shotgun and boom, blast his head off. Still having fun.

I tried getting into Doom 3, but aside from it scaring my pants off, it wasn't very much fun. Actually, having my pants scared off wasn't much fun, either.

One thing is for certain, though: Id sure knows how to create atmosphere.

Ok I'll bite...

I thought Doom 3 was amazing on the Xbox, playing Coop with a mate was one of the most fun gaming sessions I've had in years.

I am saying it will be hijacked either by two guys arguing about something totally different than doom 3 (for example over posting philosophy) or it will be turned into a doom 3 flame war over how doom 3 sucked or how it rocked. That is all doom 3 threads ever come to.

I did like the graphics/atmosphere/sound.

Since I get bored with the repetitiveness of the imp in the hallwall stuff, I'd like this game much better and would replay it if I could just edit it down

Think of it as D3 mod called "less is more".

Doom 3 sucks IMO. However, I installed the new EAX patch, and figured I'd try to get back into it. After the damn patch didn't even work, I gave up on it. Oh well, maybe some other time.

I really didnt get into Doom III on PC, scary but not too fun. It is the same game on XBOX but I had much more fun playing compared to PC.

Don't miss the expansion pack, especially if you like shotguns.
