Well, I had a good run of driving a sports car, but alas, you can't very well fit a car seat in a coupe . Just purchased a Tundra CrewMax Limited, 5.7L 4x4.

Things I will miss:
  • Being able to easily zip in and out of traffic
  • Easier parking
  • High school aged neices/nephews thinking I'm cool
Things I forgot I loved about owning a truck:
  • Sitting up higher, above the plebs in lesser vehicles
  • Not scraping the curb/blocks whilst parking
  • Utility
  • Not have to jam my large ass into a car that's sitting practically on the ground

It's why you need fleet of cars and not just one vehicle for use. Sports car for leisure and fun, truck for work and hauling, SUV/van for people hauling and road trips/adventure. Why limit yourself to one car?

I thought about buying a pickup, but then was hit with an advanced stage of sticker shock. I paid $32.5K in 2015 for my 2014 Camaro SS (sticker price $44K), and when I saw a pickup I liked at the autoshow, the sticker prices was over $60K. When I need a pickup, I just go to U-Haul and rent one for $20 a day plus mileage.

Bah... I once fit a front facing car seat in the back of my Mini Cooper. If you can do it in THAT car, you can do it in any car!

Compared to that experience, putting a booster seat in my new Mustang is cake.

I can't stand passenger cars. I don't have to drive a full size truck, but I want something with an upright posture where is doesn't feel like I'm climbing off the ground to get out of it.

For as long as I'm able to climb up out of a car, I'm going to derive pleasure from doing it, simply because I'm not an arthritic mess yet. :D

As long as I could purchase those cars with cash. I wouldn't want car loans. That would be stupid IMO.

Car loans can cost you less than paying cash. If your money is earning 6% interest and you can get a loan for 3% interest, why would you pay cash?

The overriding belief that debt is bad.

Very common for divorced guys and people who have been through bankruptcy. Having the bank come and take all your stuff tends to change your concept of "owning" something.

Doug DeMuro is 6'5" and DD's a Ford GT.
Not all cars are created equal. Some aren't a big problem, but I have a seething hatred for my boss' Malibu. Getting out of that is like climbing out of a manhole. Aside from that, passenger/sports cars are lame. Boring, and no character. If you were to give me $100k to spend on any fun car I wanted, I'd probably get an old Willys, or maybe a VW bus. If it had to be new, I'd probably get one of the big Jeep Wranglers, or whatever they're called. You might beat me to the end of a 1/4 mile, but I'll catch up, and you'll be happy to see me so I can pull you out of the ditch ;^)

edit:
BTW, I can still get off the floor without using my hands. There was a time I'd get pushups if I used my hands to help me up. That's stuck with me, and it's my yardstick for being old. When I can't get up only using my legs, I'll officially be old ;^)

I have an 08 Crewmax and I've never been in anything else that has close to the leg/elbow/hip room. And being able to see 3-4 vehicles ahead in traffic is awesome.

I would love to get a mid size sedan since the deals that can be had and the mileage you can get are amazing, but I’m already scraping the bottom of my current car (which has decent ground clearance...for a car) way too often. The mileage issue isn’t that big of a problem anymore since I do maybe 5k miles a year if I take no road trips, and I make more money when earl goes up.
