NEW not refurb. Cymbals not nomally in with the set and for a limited time.
I have this set in Red Metalic and sounds great. Been beating on mine for 2 months now and havent cracked a head on it yet and I also paid over $400. This is a killer deal right now with everything to play and free shipping. Thinking about a first set this is it. Will not break the bank and name brand to boot:D

Dont forget extra drum sticks. $9.99 free ship for 10 pair.
Got these as well from them and havent broken one set yet;)

if you have a set and you spend somehwere in the $500 range with no bells or whistles (haha litereally...), then chances are this set is as good or worse than what you have. i never tried this set myself but ludwig is always promising.

My first set was a Ludwig Rocker II. I beat the crap out of it. How are the cymbols and what kind of wood are the shells made of?

Dont know what the wood is but it looks and smells nice. The cymbals I beat the crap of and hit hard and havent cracked yet. Sound nice too for what they are ;)

I am a fan of Ludwig drums.. I have had two... set of pearl as well. By far my favorite I have owned yet would be a gretsch. I have a black nitron similiar to phil collins setup.

If only you could find good deals on gretsch. But that ludwig is a great... pick it up if ya can.

My first set was a Rocker I with Modular hardware in 1998. This is a great deal for a beginning drumset, but don't let the name fool you. Unfortunately, Ludwig is not the same as in the early 1900's to mid 70's . . . and these are made overseas and probably a composite wood. Only crapping on the recent downfall of my beloved Ludwig and not this good deal and good post. Great price for a 'good name' drumset, and props go to funboy for playing the drums.

zzounds says the shells are 7 plies, 7.2mm thick, Philippine Juniper Inside, Mahogany Outside, with PVC Plastic Wrap finish. Made in Taiwan.

Where can I see what the blue looks like? I can't access Ludwig's website.

I hope these aren't like the Rogue of guitars. I made that mistake already.

Here is the set in blue from where I got mine. At the time he had the best deal going but musiciansfriends beat him by far.

As far as learning how to play, my my biological father is a drummer, my brother is a drummer, and I just picked it up watching them. Also helped that most of my friends during my life have all been drummers as well.
I do it for the fun and for some excersize. I dont play in a band nor would I want to unless it was strictly for fun.

Oh, that's the blue? I thought it was black. Really dark. I like that. Like the wine red too.

So how long did it take you to be able to keep a beat using all 4 limbs at once? ie. different timing with one or two limbs than the others? If that makes sense.
Or learn simple rudiments?

Wine red metalflake is the one I have and it looks really good.

As for getting each of my limbs to go a different beat then the same limb on the same side took me awhile to get something down different and to this day I really have to pratice a new beat several times starting out slowly getting everything used to it. Believe me even though everyone in the family is a drummer I got the lesser part of my father and brothers god given tallent. It takes me awhile to get things down but its a hell of a lot of fun and sweat once you get it done right and your playing with your faviorite song or get a beat down that sounds kick arse by yourself with no music.

If you have never hit the drums before dont get discouraged if you cannot do it right away. Start with a simple 2 step or 4 step beat using both arms and your bass drum (dont worry to much about the high hat right away. Put it together but keep the screw loose) and keep at it for a few days hours on end till you get used to it. Then start adding more to it and before you know it your playing a complicated drum beat in a few weeks. Wont happen over night unless your a prodogy(SP) child but with work and dedication it can be done by anyone. Start with like a 4 step 1,2,3,4 on the high hat and keep it going with 1 time on the bass, 1 times on the snare, 2 times on the bass, then finish off with 1 time on the snare and repete. Work on this simple rythem till you can do it without counting off the beats in your head and start adding to it and go from there. Also may not hurt to pick up a instructional dvd at musiciansfriends while your picking up the set and sticks. I never have but when I started doing it vcrs were just coming into style and it wasnt heard of on tape im sure.

And IMHO drums is the easiest of all band instruments to play. I have tried the trumpet, sax, and gutair and I always come back to drums and chest pounding bass. Besides that you really do get a full body excersize doing it so if you want to looses weight you can get two things out of playing the drums. Better looking body and chicks that will soon dig your new body and beats. Chicks dig drummers ;)
Just dont tell my wife I said that

Haha.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I've had a couple friends that are drummers so I've tried playing theirs a few times, and from just air drumming so much I guess (I listen to a lot of Rush), I've been able to somewhat keep (kind of wobbly) a beat with 3 limbs (no foot->hi-hat) on their kits. Air drumming, I can add the foot hi-hat every now and then but it's easy to loose it. Reminds me of the air drummer videos (to Rush) someone posted links to on here awhile back.

I've always wanted to be a drummer since I was a kid but moved next to a neighbor about 5 years ago that played guitar so I somehow got into them instead. I looked off and on for a kit but never could find what seemed like a good deal on something. Then there was finding room for it.

I've met Billy Cobham, Simon Phillips, Gregg Bissonette, Zoro, Jeff Campitelli, Johnny Rabb. My idol drummer is Neal Peart (imagine that). I liked Jeff Porcaro a lot to. Met neither though.

Huh? I bought a rogue off musicians friend and after I put some martin strings on it sounds as good or better than a lot of other guitars I've used? Action is a little high but overall an unreal deal.

The Rogue strat I bought from them about 6 years ago was horrible. Pickups squealed like crazy. Overall bad, weak sound. Even as a beginner, I could tell. Strings broke too easily. Tuning wasn't great if I remember. I sent it back. The Fender Mexi strat I was borrowing at the time was an all around much, much better.

Edit: Just a note that Musicians Friend was wonderful about returning that guitar. I exchanged something else recently too. Smooth.

Ludwig use to be amazing, but I believe they aren't close to what they use to be....not saying they are bad, but....

I've also learned alot by emulating bands by playing along with CD's and/or the radio. This may seem like the non-traditional way of learning a musical instrument, but it seems to work out with drums.

I own these and a set of cheap pulse ones and I can tell you these by far are of much better quality then the pulse made in china set for the extra $69.
Granted these are made in Tiawan but between the two this set would be much better for a beginer. NOW if you have an endless pocket book then there is not much more to compaire these to because gretch IMO is by far the best sounding drums on the market and you shouldnt even think about purchasing these.

But if your like me and a penny pincher then these will fit the bill perfectly and dont have to worry too much about your friends coming over and looking at them going, whos Ludwig? May say that to you if your bashing on the pulse set though :p
My 11 year old is enjoying the pulse set now :D

Looks to be an awesome deal. Thanks OP :)

I am going to pull the trigger for my 5 year old I think. I always wish I had started younger. I started in 8th grade and was pretty well known through the band scene local throughout highschool. Had a buddy whose dad started him when he was 4 and that kid was a freakin god on the drums by the time he was in high school.

Wanna check out an excellent drummer. Listen to Dream Theater. Mike Portnoy is fabuolus overall and I have seen him about 5 times live. Just an "awesome" drummer.

Thanks,
Dave

I've always wondered, how far away outside from a regular house can you hear drums? ie. a house built in the past decade, played in a bedroom. You can put foam inside the shells to quiet them cant you?

Ludwig's webpage is now working. I was trying to find this set on there, but not sure I see the exact same set. There are several with slightly different names; some you have to get to by going to sub pages of the main set pages. Screwy.

This is the closest thing I can find by name, plain "Accent" and not Accent Custom or Accent CS. But the blue color looks much different, and the drum head doesnt have a hole. The logo plate is also different.
Also note the top set has the tom stands are on a single post, bottom set has two.
I got to this page by clicking 'Accent Series Drums' from here, then 'Accent Drum Outfits' on the left side.

Their 'Accent Custom Drum Outfit' seems to have the colors more like what you're saying they are, funboy42, but those still have a single post tom holder, and different badges. Which one is it?
