Here is one for Mr. Know-it-all, do they make a key board you can see in the dark?? Someone must. I work in a darkened room and typing is tough. Maybe a surplus submarine part?? Thanks. R.

If you KNOW how to type, then you shouldn't even be looking at your keyboard, so there is really no use for having a backlit one :)

Despite the rather flippant sound to DOACleric's response, I have to agree, most people that do a lot of typing will do it without looking at the keyboard. It's possible that if you look hard enough you will be able to find one, but I don't think there is a big market for that sort of thing. :(

I too would give anything for a backlight keyboard. My computer is next to my double bed where my wife is asleep right now (its 2am here now) and I am a one finger typist... I have the monitor set to the lowest brightness so that wifey does not complain and the keyboard is placed right next the dimmed monitor so I can find the keys. :)

I live in a third world country in a one room apartmemt... all except the bathroom in one... kitchen... work room... bedroom...sitting room.... Now you know why I need to work in the dark.

glow in the dark labels for the keys.

or you can just get a bulb that uses 12 VDC (a series of LEDs if you want) and hook it up to your computer, with a switch.

Actually, the Army uses these types of keyboard quite a bit in the field environment when light discipline is paramount to stealth and secrecy.

Quick, grab your keyboard and run into the closet and try to type something like SP1999-jHgHj23*her(2)neu. I work in a research lab, and yes we are in the dark most of the time. Electron microscopy, Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy, etc. More wires that even Anandtech. Thanks for the help. R.

I thought it wasn't good to have your monitor being the only source of light in darkness? I dunno if its true or not but it's supposed to be bad for your eyes supposedly...
