I just moved into the Baltimore/DC area, next time I ride the MARC to DC I'll keep my eyes open for the poster.

And yes, it looks retarded.

You know, I think I saw that last time I was visting DC actually. It is on the train platform for the MARC by BWI. I remember joking about it with a few friends.

Right...except this one is an actual poster up in an actual American train station as we speak. And it doesn't seem very nostaligic, unless you're Russian.

like this? There are many images of old posters that are close to what they had in the soviet bloc countries.

Why dont you find out who designed the poster. Most likely an advertising firm. Not comrade Bush.

So the poster doesn't look like a Soviet campaign to promote citizens watching each other? That's what I saw when I saw the poster, that's my only point here. And I didn't say anything about Bush...feeling defensive?

It does, eerily so.

Pretty creative. You would think that some of the 'higher level thinkers' and 'creative thinkers' from the left here would appreciate this type of art.

And how dare you question this ART? Are you now saying that we must limit the scope of art in America?

How un-left of you.

Give it up. If you ask me, this is a pretty interesting piece, and it is meant to be that way. It was designed to draw attention, and that it does. Some of the shallower, younger members here (read: leftists) just would not get the marketing behind it.

I am sure though that this was personally planned by Bush and it was approved by Putin. Anyone who does not like it will be sent to the new 'gulag of our times' to be fed better than welfare food and have total personal freedom.

Hey, you guys keep talking about Bush, not me.

I get the feeling you guys are missing the whole point here. It's not a left or right thing (I know you'll have trouble with that one, but trust me, all your lefty bashing here is just making you look dumb), it's that an official poster urging MARC riders to keep their eyes open managed to remind many people of the USSR and how Russians were encouraged to watch their neighbors. I'm not too comfortable with that whole concept, and while I agree that riders can play an important security role, surely there is a marketing approach that reflects American cultural values instead of Soviet ones.

This isn't a big thing, obviously, just an odd thing that looks very out of place in this country. The only person blowing it out of proportion here is you with your imagined Bush bashing and gulag fearing comments from the left. This is just a weird poster that managed to convey an important idea in a disturbing way, why are you getting all bent out of shape?
