I think I started using dial up bbs stuff back in 91 or 92. All Prodegy was back then was mostly a local bbs. I was using a dos client and didn't understand how to make things work. I was using a 2400 baud modem. Everything took a long time to load back then. This was on a 386sx with either 2 or 4 megs of memory. It sucked. The wing commander game was cool though.

Same here, except I didn't have Prodigy. I had to write a config script to connect and my ISP only uses a shell. Some of the bbs' had some great files for d/l'ing.

VeggieFrog does not know life without a microwave, remote control, cable teevee, push button phones, personal stereos, and air conditioning.

For you who do not know:
ARCHIE was the search machine for FTP sites; VERONICA was the search machine for gopher sites. There was no real WWW. When it first came out, I used Lynx for web sites. Netscape was the first gui. MS came out with theirs and it was a joke. I think around v.3 or 4, it became decent.

Mosaic was the first web browser. I think the first version of netscape and IE were using part of it in them. I remember when i installed them that there was a license agreement or something saying some of it was from Mosaic.

You're right! I forgot about Mosaic.
