My sister's DeskNote just got back from having the CPU fan replaced (overheating) and the CD-RW/DVD drive replaced (skipped during DVD playback). So she goes to boot it up, and it comes back saying there was a boot error. Try again, same thing. So she calls the techs and goes through some checks. They tried to use the WindowXP CD, but it would just go to black screen. Last thing they did before they closed was have her run a memory test... it came back fine.
So I go ahead and put the XP CD back in to see what it does. Sure enough, it searches for the boot data and finds it, and then goes to a black screen after it says its searching for hardware data. So, I let it go, and a few minutes later I get this error on the screen:
INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, status 2.
Setup cannot complete. Press any key to exit.
So I reboot the computer, and instead of booting off the disc, it gives me this error:
Boot: memory overflow error.
Please insert another disk.
So I restart again, and it goes to the first message. Again and it goes to the second. Any idea what is going on and how to fix it? The computer booted up fine when it was sent in with hardware issues, now it doesn't boot at all.
