Ah, as I sit down with my to-go cup of waffle house coffee, fresh ground and delicious I find myself reflecting on the trip to DC today.

It was not the longest trip I've ever made, and not the first time I've been to DC. It's the first time I've seen a show in DC though.

The roads had lots of construction going on, kinda stunk. The metro was easy to use though and ran on time on the way there (big plus). Got out of the metro station and saw a beautiful sign, a Quiznos.

We walked downtown and scoped out the club for the show before returning to the Quiznos. On the way to scope out the club three strangers were shouting out to passers-by. One begging for money, two just yelling gibberish. Very...um interesting.

At the Quiznos we encountered a nice enough young lady making sandwiches, though she spoke pretty much no English so we just kind of told her and she made it, nothing really complicated about making a sub, just a sidenote.

We then went to the club, we were the first ones to get upstairs and mc chris said hey to us and asked us how our day was going, a nice start.

The concert started with a band we hadn't heard of, Hip Hop McDougal. They were pretty awesome, sang about time travel and Back To The Future. They passed out samplers and we talked to them for a few minutes, nice guys.

Whole Wheat Bread was up from Jacksonville to join mc chris and man...they rocked our faces off. They all had talent. They had a almost punk - rock style for most of the show, then the drummer came up, took the mic and started a rap session with the guitarist.

It's great to go to smaller shows where you can meet the artists and talk to them.

On the way back we hustled, only getting to talk to mc chris briefly in the fan Q&A (We asked him what he thought of the new Star Trek movie and he said it was fucking awesome.)

When we got to the platform to catch the yellow line towards huntington this man and woman were very strange..maybe hyped up on something? One wanted us to come sit next to her and kept trying to wrap herself around us saying "Come on..I'm not gonna violate you". So we walked to the other side of the platform. It took a while to break free because the dude kept wanting to get "Shoulder Love" where he would bump shoulders with us. We narrowly avoided both of these crazies.

On the metro we had some massive delays on the way back, nearly 40 minutes. It was cool though we were a bit tired but not in a huge hurry.

Had to use the bathroom when we got to our stop. Oh. My. What the fuck. It's like the bathroom of the future with an elevator type door, but if this is the future kill me now. Shit was on the floor (literally) and so were underpants with the rest of the shit still in them. It smelled like death, piss, and shit. I quickly went and got out, feeling kind of dirty.

We stopped to make sure we were going the right direction because due to some new construction and old maps my GPS didn't quite pick up after a couple turns and we wanted to get on the interstate without a hitch. A McDonald's had no English speaking employees on either the cash or food window...huh...

So all in all, was a lot of fun, had a great time with my friend, got some new tunes...but uh D.C. needs to lower their ratio of crazy people, the only people that could communicate with me in non-crazy/drunken/enraged English were at the venue.

Also I just wanted to say thanks for the metro tips ATOT, made my trip a lot easier. 🙂

Makes me glad I live a little further down from all that.

In Maine I drove everywhere and back for work but traffic was light until you near Mass. and English was widespread. 😉

Still, fun place to visit!

Went to the big city.
Saw typical big city stuff. Great live music, bad traffic, construction, foreigners, weirdos, disgusting public restrooms.
Went home.
