You can but it will perform the same as the Amd stock 4 heatpipe heatsink. :p Might be quiter though. Also the freezer64 pro does exhaust hot air towards the back fan so.. that could help. Either way, $19.50 for the amd stock heatpipe heatsink is a good deal. I used one for 2-3 months. It cools about the same as an xp-90 or freezer64 pro so... Definitely good for someone who wants "decent" air cooling for cheap.

You would be taking the chance of degrading the sink by scratching it. Never use a metallic object for cleaning a sink.

Of course air blowing down on the power circuitry can also help. Six one, half dozen the other. However you are right in that the AC unit is probably quieter. AMD's unit isn't exactly noisy but it isn't quiet.

Man, you guys want a good laugh? You gotta check this thread out. This guy was having issues with temps with his Scythe ninja. I dont wanna give anything away, so just read the thread and see what the problem was.

I couldnt figure it out...had a freind with the same issue, and he tried hot water. Bad idea. It removed allot of it but activated the ****** and pretty much ruined the thermal conductivity of the heatsink...you can see fingerprints and a big darker patch and swirl marks where the junk got all swirled around from him trying to remove it. Im hoping mine doesnt end up that way.

Something that Ive always kinda wondered...these heatpipe coolers use a liquid that evaporates and gets cooled by the HS/F returns to liquid and drops back down to get evaporated again. Sounds all cool in theory, but how the ****** can these work when mounted sideways? Are you guys laying your computers on their sides? If not how is this providing any better cooling than a standard heatsink?

I bought this can of electrinic cleaner from local electrinic store for like $3, works wonders. Here is a link to the manufacture www.puretronics.com.
