Sometimes RL is ... just great, but often it is much less than that, and sometimes it is a pain in a certain place of the human anatomy.

As some of you may remember I went on vacation mid January. We came back January 28, and the day after I went back to work ...

Then hell broke loose: my replacement just did not do the job. Messed up a lot - and I was glad that I was not the person who hired him. I did have to fire him though ...

Since then I have been doing damage control, redoing stuff that he did, doing stuff he did not do but should have, tried to rebuild the confidence we have enjoyed for quite a few years ...

I simply did not have the time to enjoy free time. I have used all my free time for the kids and wife - followed GLeeM's advice: "Spend time with your loved ones".

My crunchers worked on. I just did minimal maintenance (an hour a week or so) and I have some catching up to do.

And my main working computer is feeling his age - I dread the time when I have to replace it - all the programs I need - the peripherals - the drivers ... it will take a couple of days to get it all done.

So folks, I am back again, but I won't have time to be online as much as I like - doing stats is not possible for at least two - three weeks.

Sorry for the trouble and possible disruption this has caused.
 
Sorry to hear about the work situation. I hope you enjoyed your vacation and that the family is doing well. We'll keep the light on for you buddy, and let us know if we can help with anything. Such as getting drivers together for that machine of yours. I've got time on my hands--if you post the hardware you have (or PM me, whatever works for you), I can get the updated drivers together (either links or actual files). And if someone can show me how to do the stats. 🙂

Take it easy--as much as real life will allow...

😀 He's referring to this thread and this thread. You missed quite a bit of excitement, especially in the later thread. 😉 It was a very close race--I was pacing you by about three votes for nearly the entire race until the end when I ended up +1 (much like the neffing in 'please delete' :laugh: ).

Please, go ahead. My DPAD-crunchers are some old PIII-laptops (because they can not crunch BOINC fast enough) and my office computer (because I am now allowed to run BOINC - but it is OK to run DPAD). Congrats!
