Won't get that upper here in Canada for a while until Space shannel gets off it's ass and decides to get it. Speaking of B5......... whatever happened to Crusader........ the spinoff show for B5??? I remember they had like 13 episodes but I missed some. Did they ever finish it?

Cheers,

The series will get made once the network sees the ratings for the pilot.

And for those of you who were dissapointed: if you learned anything from b5 before - it should be that nothing is what it seems. I'm sure you'll find that the "ancient threat" isn't what it appears to be. At the very least it'll be fundamentally diffirent from the Shadow War.

Can't wait to see it, too bad it'll be months (if not year(s)) before it'll be shown on a channel I can see :(

************POSSIBLE SPOILERS***********************

While I agree with SKiller regarding the overall story, I am still a bit disappointed, and somewhat confused, by some of the events of the movie. This happened before G'Kar's death, which would put it somewhere in the timeframe of 10-15 years after the last season of B5 and the formation of the ISA. In all the shows I've watched regarding B5, I've only ever seen 5 types of Minbari ships (counting the whitestar, not counting the transport Sheridan uses in the last show). Minbari craft are pretty much uniform. Even the glimpses from the shadow war 1k years before has very similar ships. Yet the Leandra is a Minbari craft designed before the ISA was formed, and looks more like a Narn vessel. Also, we didn't see any whitestars or destroyers (ala Excalibur), and I can't place the ship in the beginning of the movie either. Why all these weird new craft? And how can they have come to be in the time frame I mentioned above? It took 4-5 years to develop the Victory and Excalibur, yet within a decade of their development, we have a plethora of new ships. Not to mention that in the final episode of B5, we clearly saw all kinds of whitestars around Minbar. I know I'm knitpicking, but attention to details is one of the things I loved about the original series. It was all so perfectly planned and thought out that I hate to see things just thrown in as eye candy without thought in the details.

Haven't seen the new movie, but...

I think they should have continued "Crusade". I actually loved that show! Well, of course it wasn't as good as original B5, but it was great regardless.

I send them an e-mail a week or so telling them to push for rights to it in witty ways. :D

I'm a die-hard B5 fan but even I know that Crusade was suck. It was discontinued after the first season and most of the actors have moved on to other jobs.

Just wondering, how many of you fans have seen the Freespace 2 to Babylon 5 TC (game)? I *really* need to get a copy of Freespace 2...

Well after having watched it now....it was OK for an opener, it could get better with time, as mentioned above.

Sarah's pretty cute, but the whole 3D weapons station thing was just ridiculous, when she was going nuts firing at the minefield I was on the floor laughing

I liked it :). And of course, they killed it before it even got off the ground. First episodes of B5 weren't that great either (not to mention first season of TNG).

If you looked at the date on the bottom of the screen at the beginning of it it said 2268. The end of the original series (not counting the time jump on the last episode) was 2262, so this series is only 6 years after the original. As to seeing whitestars and destroyers, it's just not likely because we dont' see many ships (all I can recall are the Hand ships, the Raiders, the Leandra, the Valen, and the first ship they were on). As to the design of the Leandra, I think it's fine. Just think of the huge Explorer (think that was it) class ship that was on the original series (the one that was as long as B5 and got lost in hyperspace but was led out by the star fury's). Did you even see another one of those? I sure can't remember seeing one. There are going to be a lot of ships in a species arsenal and just because we haven't seen it before doesn't mean it's a mistake on the part of JMS.

<< babylon5 legend of the rangers... >>

is suck
no it was okay to fair. I found the 3d weapon system was cheesy.
Also why the hell is sci fi advertising the worst line in the movie "we live for the one we die for the one but we dont die stupidly." why didnt he say something to the effect that we wont die if it accomplishes nothing
but however are these ancient beings that were traped in another dimesion the same that was in B5 third space?

The 3D weapon thing was kinda cheesy, but intersting, and not unfeasable given the other technology, and the fact that minbari typically go out of their way to overdo aesthetics (a screen?! Why not a VR room?!). I definitely agree it was subpar, about even with the last half od crusade. However, as open-ended as it was, it may be the start of a new series, which would be cool, and hopefully the ancient beings threatenning everyone in the universe will be relatively easy to dispatch (Given what they translated so far and have found, chances are if the site is re-opened and they get more, it'll be a big, quick war that is just a catalyst to start the series off).

I wouldn't call it cheesy, but the actress playing that part was terrible. Especially when she was destroying the mines. It felt more like power rangers than b5. The concept itself though isn't flawed IMHO, just how she pulled it off was. I didn't have a problem with the rest of the cast.

BTW, did anybody think that the guy playing David looked like Ray Liota and the Minbari doctor looked like Molly Shannon? I know that's not who they were (both were too young to be those and they didn't look exactly like them), but the resemblance was there.

MGMorden, nice pickup on the date. I hadn't noticed that. If anything, however, the date only makes matters a bit worse. This would put the show about a year after the events that started in Crusade (which might explain the lack of whitestars, since most of them were to be sent to look for things to help the crew of the Excalibur). However, the Leandra still feels totally wrong to me as a Minbari ship. All Minbari ships have at very least a green spectrum for their weapons, not to mention their strong favor of beam weapons, even on their fighters. And as I said before, it looks much more like a Narn vessel than something the Minbari would build. And where did the ship at the very beginning come from? The development of the Excalibur/Victory showed that implementing new designs takes a while, yet we have all kinds of new ISA ships popping up.

It was indeed very disappointing. Such a let down. I couldn't find ONE redeeming quality.

The EXPLORER ship from B5 we did see one other time. It was at Zahadoom (I know I butchered that spelling) in the flash back. It was also meant as a long range exploration ship and they only come into known space for supplies and repairs so I wouldn't expect it to be see any more than once or twice.
I was also disappointed by this movie. Was too much like a pilot movie than the typical B5 movie. It had too much of the feel of Crusaders. I was very surprised that they were using ships other than the whitestars. It really didn't make that much sense unless they were old oddball ships that somehow made it through the shadow wars and were on their last legs. (which the LEandra definitely was).

Well, in all fairness, this movie is the pilot for a possible new series. Now I'll agree that if said series doesn't come to be, then the movie just wasn't very good. However it makes a perfect beginning for a series. I think they will make the series though. If you'll notice they named this like an episode (title was To Live and Die in Starlight). This would suggest that they are going to make a series or at the very least a few more movies.
