So I'm new to the baby thing. Son turned 1 month old today and am wondering what are some things to get baby's toy wise(or something else)? Curious what are some good things to get him for Xmas? Anyone here have luck with certain toys for young baby's?

They're a worthless waste of time until the kid can hold them and play with them. I have a 2 year old and a 7 week old.
My 2 year old was more likely to play with the damn box the toy came in, rather than the toy itself, at least until she was over a year old.

At your kid's age, you don't need much at all.

At this age, the kid is likely to get gifts from all sorts of people. Relax and enjoy it. You'll have plenty of opportunity to spend money on your darling later on - I've got teenagers/college kids, trust me.

well as young as he is I wasnt planning on spending hundreds in stuff he can't use. I was gonna get him a couple things and my GF was gonna get him a couple things. We mainly want pictures of his first Xmas more than anything. But since we are buying stuff would be nice to get something he might enjoy.

Keep it pretty simple for little babies. Something they can grab (and chew on) that maybe has a few moving bits that are brightly colored should do it.

Limit the amount of bells and whistles too. I can't tell you how many toys grandparent bought that are just annoying! Keep things simple. Textures for touch, colours for sight, crinkles or light rattle for sound. Nothing large keep it small so they can pick it up. Enjoy!

Yep. Little babies like texture, color contrasts, sounds, etc in toys. Skip anything that's supposed to stack, or be assembled a certain way however...that's way over their heads.

look for a playgym/playmat. they usually let you put the kid down on his/her back and look up and try to reach for little lighted toys and stuffed animal sorts of things.

i don't think the jumper is a good idea until the baby can sit up on his/her own. otherwise, he/she is likely to fall out.
