He had 714 Home Runs in 22 seasons. But more impressive, he batted for an insane .342 batting average.

Hehe :)

The best thing about Babe Ruth is that he made his records w/out steroids and all the fuss that pro athletes have today :)

I forgot to add, Ruth had 2062 walks. Or, maybe he just had a good eye!

this one is kind of funny, last night I saw a small spider on my wall before I went to bed so I threw it outside, good thing it was in view or I might have eaten it during the night.

And he partied like it was 1999 in 1929.....He knew how to live. He also was an outstanding pitcher, too.

the pitching aspect of his game is SOOO overrated. It's not a big deal that he could pitch. A lot of outfielders have good enough arms to pitch if they practiced it a bit. theres a reason they don't, NO manager in his right mind would take a good OFer with POWER to all fields and make him a pitcher. that would be LUDICROUS.

Which manager in their right mind would want Barry Bonds to start pitching? would the fact that he COULD pitch make him ANY better a player? NO, at best it would just be an asterisk a meaningless asterisk.

the analogy in football would be like saying Dan Marino was the best QB of all time OH and he could kick field goals too. Would anyone give a flying fvck?

Right, all he did was lead the league in shutouts (9) and ERA (1.75) one year, and pitched a 14 inning complete game in a World Series. He was a damn GREAT pitcher, and they'd probably have an award named after him today if he remained one.

The ONLY reason he ever became a hitter was of World War I, when teams didn't have enough players to fill their rosters, and the Sox needed an everyday player.

Uh yeah, OFers don't pitch because they CAN'T.

No, because he can't.

That would be pretty damn awesome. Do you know how much work it takes to become a good kicker?

Another interesting fact is that prior to 1918, before Ruth left the Sox, the Red Sox had won 5 out of 18 World Series, while the Yankees had none. And of course we all know what happened after that..Yankees have won about 27 (?), Sox..0.
