----- amp + speakers route-----
If you have lots of space, you could pick up a stereo amp (lepai makes some nice ones for the price) and any decently priced bookshelf speakers, or even build your own speakers. parts express has that amp for cheaper, but on backorder atm. http://www.amazon.com/Lepai-LP-168HA.../dp/B0070Z87YO
Basically, though you could do worse. They do have a built-in DAC, which is nice if you don't already have one.
I'd get a T-amp (with or without DAC) and a pair of these -- not hugely sensitive (i.e. it's for nearfield, not deafening home theater), but really refined and with a surprising midbass response from a single 4" woofer.
They're great for small desktop speakers. I've had them for about 6 mo or so and they've been a great addition to my setup. Yes, you're paying a premium for the name, but they're great quality and sound fantastic for what they are.
