B-Stock Monitors

Would it be a huge mistake to buy a B-stock crt, even from a decent company? I need a crt, and to get the one I want in flawless condition, calibrated etc. is too rich for my blood right now. Would getting a b-stock with possible screen blemishes, and even possible screen burn-in be a bad move? The price is much better, but I don't know if it's worth it if the probability of having scuffs and burn-in is too high. Has anyone else done this before for a CRT and what happened? Thanks.
 
It's what I'm used to and prefer. I've never owned or even seen an LCD that comes close. If I ever did, I'm sure I could't afford it.
 
Depends on how much it costs? $100 w/ shipping, sure, why not?. If it's above that it's probably not worth it. You could end up wasting a whole lot of money on the CRT + shipping only to find it has a scuff right in the middle or has a slightly yellow tint you can't get rid of. If you could see it in person before you bought it, then I'd say you have a better shot.

I really don't see how you could stand a CRT w/ burn-in over an LCD. Look @ the LCD thread and try to get an LCD which is best at what you do most(gaming/photo editing.. etc...).

It's been a couple of years, but last time I tried to give some away no one wanted them, not even charities.
 
I don't think anyone does, that's why I have to choose b-stock at a price I can afford or a-stock that costs so much more that I'm wondering just how bad b-stock is.
 
Have you thought of putting an add up on Craigslist? You may get someone that has one that was not used much. About 3 months ago I sold a 19" that I had only used about 8 months before I bought my first LCD... the thing was just like new.

Sony and Hyundai do. I'm sure a few others. Most (if not all) are broadcast or production monitors and quite expensive. I think Sony's BVM line starts around $10k.

I wouldn't go for a B-Stock. Just save up for an A. If the work is important enough to require CRT accuracy, don't skimp for a B.
