What's the best place to pick up a roll of cat. 5e for myself? Compgeeks wants to charge me $48 shipping on a 36.50 order. I remember a while back Radio Shack had a sale, like $0.05/ft of cat.5e, but I went to their website, and all they have is short patch cables now. Any ideas?

you're kinda SOL cuz you live in Hawaii so they gotta send it via air to you. Check some local comp stores?

Home Deport & Lowes sell Cat5 Rolls. In various sizes, 25', 100', 500', 1000' etc.

Homedepot had better prices than lowes the last time I checked.

However, if you can wait a bit, there's those kits online for 1000' plus crimper + ends for a bit cheaper than homedepot. The crimper is crap, and the ends I dunno, but, might be worth a few days to order and wait. I think it was overstock or compgeeks that had the kit.

 
Some Circuit City's sell it by the foot. I don't know if you can get a big roll of it, but they have a big roll and you can pay for how many feet you need.

The ones here do.

You could always call up a networking firm or electrical contractor and find out where they get them. I usually go to a place in town called E&H Electric Supply (mostly circuit breakers, conduit, wiring, etc. but they have networking supplies, too.) Seems I bought a 1000' roll for about $90-95.
 
The Circuit City I work at has rolls for sale, apparently you haven't had luck at your local one...
