Got one yday at local Staples, doesn't seem to be sold online (in my area at least- CT).
Paid $99.98 + tax. It's refurbished, but mine looks like new - bear in mind that a lot of them were sold and simply returned by customers but there's nothing wrong with them.
It comes with manual and installation CD-Rom and two ink cartridges (new, sealed).
This printer used to cost $449 and it's really great - big and heavy with a fan in the back. The b&w print speed is amazing, and photos coming out very good too.
You can not go wrong with this one.

WOW $99!!!

damn is that deal still good?? I'll pick up one tomorrow then!

hey are you the one that posted this:
"Very fast!! Staples on sale= $99.98"
My son and I were looking for a printer for him. We stoped in at Staples and the Epson stylus 900 was on sale for $99.98 the salesman walked over and gave us the run down on this printer so we took 1 @. well I have it now for about a week and it's EXCELLENT for the Speed, Quality and the Money. You can't beat it!!"

at computers.com?

I was considering a 870, anyone know how the 900 is better?

I'm primarily concerned with text output since that's what I, like most people, will end up using a printer for yet online reviews only talk about the photo output.

dammmmm i just called, said "all gone" :( I even asked about refurb models for $99, said that was the price 3 weeks ago which is about the same time of this thread :(

I would buy online but I'm too chicken to pay for something like a printer without knowing exactly what i'm getting, like speed, print quality, etc, well unless someone was willing to send me some print samples, I'd even pay for them . . .

hey Afronaut can you pm me? I'm not at home right now, so the best way to reach me is to private message me.

Do you still have the reciept? Is it too late to take it back? I mean if i get it and i look at the quality and go "yuck" (i have a dye sub Alps 5000 now)

how is this thing different than the 870? Everyone seems to really like the 870, surprised to see the 900 selling so low

Sold already!

This unit makes more noise than the Ramones. The print nozzels clog (with their ink) and you have to do a nozzle check and cleaning every time you print. I used some good coupons and beat up the CS, and got a great price on it, hence the 60.00 forum price

The 870 is a photo printer with 6 ink-printing. The 900 is a very fast (I dare to say it's the fastest Ink-Jet printer out there. The printing cost per sheet is very low as the printer uses big cartridges. I have it and must say am really impressed with speed and quality. I also printed photo's on Epaon Photo paper and they're very good. Think if photo is not your priority, this is the printer to get, it used to cost $399 and has very good reviews.
This morning I bought the HP P1100 which is also a photo printer - let's see the difference.

I have the epson 900.....been though tons of paper already....about to replace the original cartridges.

Got 2 color and 3 B/W Epson NIB on E-bay for $40 total. They expire in 2002, so I should be good. :0

Yes the printer is noisy, but oh well....it's fast, so it's not noisy for long!

Got One @ local OfficeMax store... nice and new

Total is $104.99 (plus tax) after $25 off $100 coupon, I have to talk the manager into giving me this deal since it is for online order.
I love Christmas
I was told that Officemax will get more next week, but price might change... get 'em this week if you can, call Officemax 800 number and ask the CSR to find stores that still have it. Good luck
