Azureus Problem... I really went through it all

Ok so ive been doing my homeowkr for a couple of nights, and ive done the following:

1) Port Forwarding

2) the good settings in the wiki faq

3) fixed my NAT problem

4) probed my port and its working pefectly

So im only getting ~25 KB/s on a torrent that has 31 seeds and 41 peers. I also have the green smiley face so i know its working. Is it me or them? Why is it so slow. Ive read that people can get upwords of 600KB/s to 100 Kb/s. Even 100 KB/s would be a huge upgrade. Is it because of not enough seeders? Is it my connection? I dont have any NAT problems. WHy cant i get those lightning fast speeds? Is it my Java? Im running version 5 update 4.

What speed are you uploading at? If you max out your upload, it will kill your download. You need to limit it to lower than your maximum. Also, bittorrent is unreliable and unpredictable.

Man, some people just don't get it. I don't mean to be rude at all, since you have honestly tried everything to increase your speed, but it's them; it's almost always them. I have/had some torrents that have like 600 seeds and a couple thousand peers with like 20, maybe more, connections yet they still went like 40-50Kbps. It's higher than yours, but I'm just trying to make a point. The amount of connections doesn't mean crap, it's how fast they can upload. Most people just don't realize that the vast majority of people still use dial up. They can only download like 6Kbps on a very clean line, just imagine how that translates to upload. It must be like .5Kbps, MAYBE.

ok, im just paranoid cuz there are so many factors to consider when setthing this up. I just gotta be patient for that golden 600 kbps torrent. Im now happily at around ~25. Went up to 120kbps for a while. just a while....

No port fowarding adjustments required with Bittorrent and XP SP2. I get solid, up and download speeds without the added work and complexity of forwarding. With only a 256/768k connection, I regularly get 25-50k from most any torrent using Bittorrent. I limit my upload to around 17k though so I can surf while downloading.

You might try it for comparison.

You'll almost never get good speeds on public sites, since most people are either unconnectable, are seeding a bunch of other uploads (which means only a little bandwidth for each torrent), or have capped their upload at something ridiculously slow.
The latter is usually the case, which is they invented private members-only or invite-only sites that require a 1:1 ratio from everyone.

What fiewall do you have?
I have found that different firewalls reant differently..
Give Azureus & Jave full permisions.


I have a 10Mb connention and average upload speeds of 85kbs.


Highlightig the max uload nunber tap "alt" "enter" keys can boost your speed

It depends on on how many seed and if the file is ew and still being uploaded and otherr factors..



Today I d/l a 1.36Gb in 2hr 15mins at a stedy 250Kbs..& u/l to a 05.0ratio..

The file had about 150 seeds and 400 peers.

Tis is fast.

What is your connection speed.

try to use azureus 2.3.0.4 (the newer one i believe 2.3.0.6 totally hogged my cpu)
(my java is 1.5.0_04-b05)
runs great on my p3-750 384mb lappie :p

735kbps is your download? Is that all your line can carry? That means you'd max out at 90KB/s.

On occasion on T3 I've reached 1,000KB/s+, but that was with like 800KB/s (capped!) upload.

How do you setup port forwarding for bittorent (and what port?). I'm using bitcomet with XPSp2. I have a max upload of 60k and 700k download.

with azureus you want to use ports between 49152-65535 and dont use 6881 because it has been blacklisted

735 KBps, or ~5.8 Mbps...

ikickpigeons, what speed line do you use?
Have you tried using the "Auto Speed" option in plugins?
30 KBps is ~240kbps, which isn't horrible at all for a public torrent

With Bittorrent and XP SP2, You don't unless you are hosting the torrent. For downloads you don't need to forward anything.

is th eauto sed plugin good? I saw it on the main website but i didnt consider it. DOes it reallly make a difference?
