Azureus kills my linksys router.

I have an old Linksys BEFW11S4. Whenever I run Azureus it completely kills my internet connection. Everything in Azureus downloads fine but I can't view any sites. They just time out. Even the router setup page either times out or loads very slowly. I ended up buying a different router when I was back at home and it fixed the problem but I'm off at college now and I got stuck with the old linksys.

I read somewhere that the router couldn't handle the amount of connections that Azureus tries to make so I lowered that all the way down to 50 but it still doesn't work. Most sites don't load and the ones that do usually timeout half way through or load very slowly. Any suggestions? I really like Azureus but if I can't fix it I'm going to have to switch. I can't afford a new router right now. Does anyone have any experence with BitComet?

I honestly can't answer that because I don't know for sure. I have used unofficial fireware on other routers that weren't the correct version and had success. It's hit or miss...

I personally have had many problems with that router and I just threw it out and went with a WRT54G.

Actually I'm too late for that router. Today was the last day for the rebate and Compusa is already closed. :(

Can you afford this?

Thanks to JackMDS for the find.

Good deal. Not really, but I think I'll buy one anyway. In the mean time is there anyway to force my router to accept the firmware update?

I am by no means a linksys expert but if you join that linksysinfo forum I am sure there is somone there who may be able to help. They know just about everything there is to know about linksys equipment.

I have had nothing but problems with the series he has. No firmware updates could fix my problems so I dumped it at got a WRT54G. Those are just older hardware...
