Azureus 2.2 is out

what are you guys using for the port for azureus? I've read in a few places that you should change the port to something other than the standard 6998 since ISPs are beginning to block those.

I'm on comcast btw.

Is there a way to disable seeding once you finish downloading the file? I know there are rules you can set so that *sometimes* you don't seed.. but I want to completely turn it off.

if everybody stops seeding after they're done, how would you have downloaded your stuffz in the first place?

Sure. First you take a 12ga, then you cram it in your mouth and pull the trigger.

Death to leechers!

Make it what you want... I'm using 65000-something.

Fricking leechers.

FYI, you can only 'seed' something that you've completely DLed yourself. So, unless you finished DLing your stuff, you are not seeding jack.

Personally, I seed everything I DL for a minimum of 12 hours. If the file was a b*tch to get because there were too many leechers, I seed it for much longer, sometimes more than a week.

I have one comp that i use purely for Azureus, 24/7.
Granted, i have to turn off DLs & ULs while i'm playing games on my other comp to avoid lag, but those of you who want to disable seeding should seriously die.
Go find your stuff on mIRC, where leeching is welcome.

From the company actually distributing the software? I can usually get higher transfer rates than from one of their FTP servers using BitTorrent.. but personally, once I've downloaded the whole file (uploading in the process), I don't owe anybody anything. Excuse me for being considerate to those who share my internet connection and bandwidth.

Now, instead of flaming.. could somebody actually answer my question?

there are forums out there providing torrents, but to registered users. Because you're registered, they can tell how much you up/down and your seed ratio. Keep your ratio above .25 or something and you can stay. Keep it above 1.0 and you don't have to wait 24 hours before you can download new stuff.

I think it's a great system... the torrents are always available.

Azureus is great, I am really liking this update as well!

For a site I use ( they require you to stay at 1.0 or higher or be banned )
Share Ratio:1
Uploaded: 14.26 GB
Downloaded:14.30 GB

😀

Instead of being a worthless sack of leeching crap, how about you die in a fire?

rh71 ... which site is this, .25 ratio is not bad all ...
site doesn't matter... they stopped accepting registration for some reason... anyway... having to wait 24h for a new torrent sucks... that's why I'm desperately getting my ratio up to 1.0 again. It's tough to keep it up there when your ISP caps you if you upload for over an hour. Downloads always go faster.

Actually, no, I'm gonna have to agree with M4H here.

You really should consider that death in a fire option!

You know why it's not there ? Because it is not how torrents/sharing works. No seeds, no completed downloads. Why are you selfish ? Please tell me it's a technical reason.

13KB/s (or so) upload capacity, shared between 4 computers. Don't have much (any?) headroom for unnecessary uploads. As it is right now, as soon as the file is finished downloading, I stop it from seeding, anyway. I just want to automate the process.
